This is the Giulia SS from Alfa Romeo's London Motor Show stand. The righthand drive coupe was road tested by Motor magazine for their 13 March 1965 issue and, more recently, has been featured in Classic Car Weekly. The Bertone styled fixed head first left the Alfa works in 1964, has all its original numbers intact and following overseas residency, returned to the UK in 1983.
The two-door bodyshell is claimed by the vendor to be very sound with excellent structure, the blue paintwork good and the blue interior with leather seats also in very good condition. The 1570cc four-cylinder twin cam, rebuilt recently, reportedly pulls well and shows excellent oil pressure, while the five-speed manual transmission is also said to be very good. The suspension has apparently been uprated with a handling kit, resulting in virtually flat and roll-free cornering. The electrical equipment and the steel road wheels are said to be good.
This is your opportunity to acquire a relatively rare historic Alfa, and a righthand drive one at that, which would appear to be in very good useable order and which successfully completed the Classic Malts and Rallye International des Alps in 2003. The paperwork - which includes original handbook, FIVA Identity Card and V5 stating year of manufacture and current BYY 6B registration - also confirms that previous well known owners include publishing executive Eric Verdon Roe and marathon rally organiser Nick Brittain.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
