Lot details Registration No: G110PWR Chassis No: WPOZZZ92ZLS840427 Mot Expiry: May 2005
When on the drawing board, the 928 was destined to replace the 911, which was reckoned to be past its sell by date with its ancient air-cooled technology. Happily for the worldwide fan base of the traditional Porsche, however, the two models were produced in parallel, and it was the much larger and front-engined, water-cooled 928, far more costly for Porsche to produce and their clients to buy in a recession hit world, that ran out of production life first.
This 1990 928 - an S4 auto, very well specified with sports seats, sunroof and alloys - was built in Stuttgart in 1990, like so many Porsches over the years, the luxurious Grand Tourer being finished in Guards Red, in this case with the highly fashionable for the time linen leather interior. The original purchase invoice for the righthand drive Autobahn express is included in the documents file, which also records full service history from new, various bills detailing many thousands of pounds worth of maintenance and service work carried out, as well as old MOT certificates; the latest not requiring renewal until next May.
The current cosmetic and mechanical condition of the GT supercar is rated by the vendor as being all good, while the 100,000 miles displayed on the odometer when entered for this sale is believed by him to be the genuine total mileage since new. Today, a 928 like this offers huge value for your money.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
