Lot details Registration No: PSU 102 Chassis No: 671144 Mot Expiry: Sept 2005
This authentic looking C Type Jaguar was built to fairly original specification in 1997 by Bromsgrove specialist Bob Cooper. PSU 102 was specially commissioned by the vendor's late husband to fulfil an ambition to own and drive a C Type. Having only driven it on trips around Scotland, however, he sadly died with his beloved sportscar having done very few miles.
Today, chassis and bodywork are described as being like new, though the paintwork in Ecurie Ecosse Blue does have a few scratches. Black leather and vinyl trim is said to be as good as new. Whilst the engine, a 3.8-litre with straight port head on triple 45 DCOE Webers, is reportedly in good order, having been newly built in 1997, and the four-speed, all-synchromesh, manual gearbox is said to be also as new. Rack and pinion steering has been employed.
A 1951 donor Jaguar was used to source the logbook and many of the components employed, while Cooper crafted the chassis from a round-tube frame close to the original, though the pedals are adjustable and there are brackets for full harnesses. The body has been hand-made from sixteen gauge aluminium sheet to the correct width as per original, being built onto the chassis frame during final construction so that doors and bonnet gaps align correctly.
There are replicas and replicas...and then there is this stunningly executed C Type which really is worthy of your detailed examination and consideration.
