Lot details Registration No: B7 ASJ Chassis No: 62661 Mot Expiry: April 2006
Launched at the 1985 Geneva Motor Show, the Ferrari 412i was recognisable via its colour-coded bumpers, matt black chin spoiler, raised boot-line and 'flat' five-spoke alloy wheels. Upgraded with new electrically-operated front seats, its revamped interior also sported re-profiled headrests and an improved air-conditioning system. Utilising the same tubular steel chassis design as its 365/400/400i predecessors (but with various detail improvements), it boasted all-round independent suspension (self-levelling at the rear), power-assisted rack and pinion steering and Bosch ABS disc brakes. Powered by an enlarged 4942cc 'quad-cam' V12 engine that developed 340bhp @ 6,000rpm, it could be had with either five-speed manual or automatic transmission. Reputedly capable of 155mph and 0-60mph in 6.4 seconds, a mere 576 are thought to have left the Maranello factory during the model's four-year production run.
Finished in red with magnolia leather upholstery, this particular example is variously described by the vendor - a former Lord Mayor of London - as being in good (bodywork) or very good (engine, gearbox, electrical equipment, interior trim, chassis, paintwork) condition. Believed to be one of just fifty-five right-hand drive automatics built, it has apparently received attention to its "electrics, paintwork and chassis" during the current (sixth) ownership. Said to have covered 87,500 miles from new, it reportedly benefits from "full service history / bills, complete tools, stainless steel exhausts and a personalised number plate". Somewhat more discreet than its modern 612 Scaglietti equivalent, this elegant Ferrari is offered for sale with history file (including a signed copy of the "Best of Britain" book), MOT certificate valid until April 14th 2006 and road tax until July 31st 2006.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
