Lot details Registration No: GYM958W Chassis No: GVADJIAE518403 Mot Expiry: July 2006
Cornerstone of the British classic car industry, the MGB has a seemingly unshakeable grip on enthusiasts' hearts. Able to keep up with (and overtake) modern traffic, its straightforward design and excellent spare parts availability make it easy to maintain. Equipped with independent front suspension, disc / drum brakes and rack and pinion steering, it forces precious few compromises on the modern motorist.
Finished in black with black leather upholstery, this particular example is variously described by the vendor as being in "good" (1798cc four-cylinder engine, four-speed plus overdrive manual gearbox, electrical equipment, chassis, bodywork, paintwork, wheels / tyres) or "excellent" (interior trim) condition. Benefiting from a tonneau, alloy wheels and leather seats not to mention a "recent hood and cover", it is stated to have covered 73,000 miles from new. Said to be a "superb driving car", this "lovely" MGB's history file reportedly contains "£1000s of service bills, repairs and upgrades" as well as a record "of all its previous keepers", sundry "old MOTs / purchase invoices" and a current MOT certificate valid until 18th July 2006.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
