Lot details Registration No: RDB200H Chassis No: CP504930 Mot Expiry: May 2008
Announced late in 1968, the Triumph TR6 utilised the same basic chassis design as its TR5 and TR4A predecessors. Featuring all round independent coil-sprung suspension, disc / drum brakes and rack and pinion steering, it was powered by Triumph's acclaimed 2498cc straight-six engine. Mated to four-speed plus overdrive transmission, this torquey unit gave both spirited acceleration and relaxed cruising. A strong seller on both sides of the Atlantic thanks to its low slung, Kamm tail styling, the TR6 is regarded by many as the last of the true TR sportscars.
Finished in red with black leather seats, this particular example is described by the vendor as being in "excellent" condition with regard to its engine, four-speed manual plus overdrive gearbox, electrical equipment, interior trim, bodywork and wheels / tyres (while, he rates the chassis and paintwork as "very good").
Said to have undergone "an extensive professional quality restoration", we are further informed that 'RDB 200H' has been "owned and maintained by the Yorkshire Motor Museum since 2006". Riding on wire wheels and eligible for historic class (free) road tax, this tempting TR6 is offered for sale with MOT certificate valid until May 24th 2008.
