Lot details Registration No: HF 3330 Frame No: 72922 Engine No: 72922 cc: 349 MOT Expiry Date: None
AJS listed a single touring 349cc single, the side valve G3 De Luxe Touring costing £49-15s-0d and five sporting 349cc singles, the G4 De Luxe Sporting at the same price as the G3, the G5 Standard Sporting at £44-10s-0d and the overhead valve G6, G7 Special Sports and GR7 Racing model for the 1926 model season. Differences between the two sporting side valves were minimal, the De Luxe variant employed a full primary chaincase instead of the open "guard" fitted to the standard model and the front mudguard incorporated abreivated valances in the interst of rider and machine cleanliness. Mechanically both employed the well proven side valve single cylinder engine and a three speed hand operated gearbox with all chain drive.
This example of the G4 De Luxe Sporting was taken off the road during 1934. It was discovered in a shed during 1983 when a bank manager went to the property to read a will. He bought the machine with the intention of restoring it but did not acheive this and subsequently sold it to the vendor shortly before his death March 2009. The vendor has subsequently renovated it to the condition in which it is now presented. The paint and brightwork are described as being in good condition as is the engine and gearbox. An acetylene lighting set is fitted and the motorcycle is accompanied by a Swansea V5C and the original log book.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
