Lot 69 - 1970 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Convertible

1970 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Convertible

Lot details
Registration No: T.B.A.
Chassis No: DRH 9768
Mot Expiry: T.B.A.

Introduced in 1967, two years after its four-door Silver Shadow sibling, the elegant H.J. Mulliner Park Ward two-door convertible variant was styled in-house by W.G. Allen. Wonderfully sleek, its revised wing line incorporated a pronounced 'kick' over the rear wheels. Sharing the same advanced platform as the Shadow, it benefited from olio-pneumatic self-levelling rear suspension, power disc brakes and smooth automatic transmission. Powered by Rolls-Royce's proven 6230cc OHV V8 engine (upgraded to 6750cc in 1970), it was trimmed with a superlative mix of sumptuous leather hides, rich wood veneers and deep lambswool carpets. Only in production for four years, a mere 505 two-door MPW convertibles are thought to have been made.
Finished in metallic beige with cream leather upholstery piped in blue, this particular example has been in the current family ownership since 1991. An ex-Jersey car, it is described by the vendor as being in "excellent" condition with regard to its 6750cc engine, three-speed automatic transmission, electrical equipment, interior trim, chassis, bodywork, paintwork and wheels / tyres. While, there is insufficient paperwork to guarantee that the mileage of 30,300 shown by the car's odometer represents the correct total from new, it is a figure seemingly commensurate with the lack of wear and tear to the vehicle as a whole. Benefiting from later style alloys (though the original wheels are available for collection from the vendor), this gorgeous Rolls-Royce convertible is offered for sale with sundry documentation.

PLEASE NOTE: We apologise but this vehicle has been withdrawn from the 26th July 2006 auction.
