H&H are indebted to the vendor for the following description:

"Back in the 1950's, when motorsport was evolving at a rapid rate in Britain, many small manufacturers of Sports Racing cars emerged. Some of these, such as Lotus and Cooper, went on to become 'giants' of Grand Prix racing.

During that era Dick Shattock, of RGS, was one of the more successful characters, not only racing his own RGS Sports Racing car, but also in conjunction with his friend John Griffiths supplying RGS bodies and J.A.G chassis and suspension components to fellow competitors.

The chassis of this RGS was an advanced twin tube design, by John Griffiths, and more than capable of handling Jaguar power. The car was believed to be first owned by a M.R. Prior, of the Bury St. Edmunds area, and was raced during the 50's and 60's. The engine, gearbox and running gear is MG based, to a well- proven specification.

The car was discovered in a barn, near Snetterton, in 1988 by the late Peter Wardle, who then proceeded to race it, with his friend Malcolm White, until 2004. During that time it competed in the BRDC 50's Sportscars, VSCC 50's Sportscars, AMOC 50's Sportscars, Flemmings Thoroughbreds, Pomeroy Trophy, Birkett, BDC and MG meetings. It is fair to say that if was very successful, winning 3 races outright and a huge amount of class wins and podiums.

In 2004 the car found a new owner, who commissioned restoration work where necessary. The suspension was fully analysed and set up by, the World famous expert, Alan Stanifort. A new 'lightweight' body was fitted (the original is also included in the sale) and all components checked and refurbished, if needed.

To gain entry to the very prestigious 50's Sports Racing scene, such as the BRDC 50's, VSCC 50's, H.G.P.C.A. 50's, AMOC 50's, Goodwood etc., one would normally have to spend 'megabucks'. This car, however, is welcome almost everywhere and its beauty lies in its simplicity. On the button, ready to race, it comes with a massive spares package, including a long-range fuel tank and an easy change front Drum brake set up, if so desired.

This unique car offers top 'Historic' motoring at a very modest price".

All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
