The 1965 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow and Bentley TI represented a complete break with tradition, being the first of the Crewe factory cars to employ unitary construction. In 1977, the long wheelbase Silver Shadow was renamed the Silver Wraith II and the 'ordinary' Shadow became the Shadow II. At the same time, improvements were incorporated, such as rack and pinion steering, a completely revised dashboard and control layout, split-level air-conditioning and a rather racey spoiler at the front. The V8 engine had already been enlarged to 6750cc in 1970. A total of 8422 Shadow IIs were made, the car on offer being one of them.
This Shadow MkII, a righthand drive luxury saloon built in 1977, is presented in Le Mans Blue with black Everflex trimmed roof and magnolia hide trim. The high specification, which includes a cocktail cabinet in the glove-box, has been further enhanced by the fitment of a newly installed Sony CD stack system.
Claimed still to be original and unrestored, the condition of bodyshell, above and below, is described as good and interior excellent. V8 motor and 3-speed automatic transmission as well as electrical equipment are reportedly all in good order.
Included in the documents file are owners handbook and service records book. The 100,633 displayed when entered for the sale is believed by the vendor to be the genuine total mileage from new. The current MOT test certificate will not require renewal next February.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
