According to information supplied by the vendor, this BMW was converted from a road car into a historic racer at a cost of approximately £25,000. Said to have been "a class winner at several events" and to be "ready to go", it boasts an impressive specification:
Engine: Race prepared 2-litre four-cylinder unit. Shrik camshaft, alloy rockers, ported cylinder head (complete with enlarged inlet / exhaust valves), 11.5:1 compression ratio, special dome top pistons, big 45mm branch manifolds, twin Dellorto 48 carburettors and an air box designed to produce a ram effect.
Gearbox: BMW 5-speed close-ratio with single piece propshaft
Rear Axle: 3.9 with Limited Slip Differential
Suspension: Polybushed with adjustable Spax shock absorbers front and rear. Bespoke springs (400lb front / 300lb rear) and lowered ride height.
Brakes: Pedal box and bias control from race and rally design. Large ventilated front discs with racing pads and air ducts. Large rear drums with race standard linings.
Additional Equipment: Plumbed-in fire extinguisher system, full roll cage, four-point harness, OMP race seat, Tim rev counter, Revotec oil and water gauges, foam filled alloy fuel tank, laminated windscreen, Red Top racing battery and Lumenition performance ignition.
