Lot details
Registration No: DRJ847L
Chassis No: AM6012RA
Mot Expiry: Sept 2004

The now world famous Aston Martin marque only came about because of founder Lionel Martin winning his class in his souped-up Singer Ten at a 1913 Aston Clinton hillclimb, a stretch of public road in rural Buckinghamshire. In partnership with Robert Bamford, Bamford and Martin sold Singers and Calthorpes in Fulham and South Kensington. Their first car to carry the Aston Martin name took to the road in 1921.
After closure in 1926, a new Aston Martin concern soon fired up in Feltham and, when David Brown became the owner, production moved to Newport Pagnell, where Ford owned Aston Service is still very much in business today.
Post DB6 and pre-V8 engined Astons, only seventy-two AM Vantages were hand-built in Buckinghamshire, the model therefore having become quite rare now.
We understand that this 1972 example, a righthand drive car with manual transmission, has had over £21,000 spent on a rebuild. Since the 3995cc 6-cylinder engine, as used in the most powerful DB6 in fact, has been rebuilt, the car has done only around 9000 miles. With a claimed 325bhp transmitted to the rear wheels, an AM Vantage is nonetheless a seriously rapid Grand Tourer, and one which provides owners with full 4-seater accommodation too.
Current condition of bodywork, above and below, and champagne paint are described as being very good, with black leather interior original and still good, and both motor and transmission reportedly in very good order.

All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.

You can collect your new pride and joy from our venue until 1pm the day following the sale or our partners are on hand to help arrange safe transportation:
