Introduced in 1949 the Comet was only available in Series C form. The new models engine was clearly derived from the twin cylinder models with the rear cylinder being replaced by a frame tie that also supported the four speed Burman gearbox. In most other respects the Comet followed the twin cylinder models. When tested in 1949, the series C Comet was praised for both its excellent handling and braking, as well as a highly reputable 88mph top speed. The example offered was built in 1950 but not registered until 1959. Described by the vendor as being in good condition cosmetically except for a small mark on the tank, it is fitted with alloy rims a centre stand and crashbars. The original 6 volt electrical system is described as being "very good" and has benefitted from the addition of led bulbs. The engine, according to the vendor "sounds and runs well" and the transmission and cycle parts are described as being very good. It was recently checked over by Meriden Motorcycles and is offered with a Swansea V5C, a copy of the original works order form and a tax disc valid until November 2013.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
