Lot details Registration No: HOI 242 Chassis No: WPOZZZ91ZGS140639 Mot Expiry: Oct 2008
Developed under the watchful eye of Porsche Chief Executive Peter Schutz, the 911 Carrera 3.2 made its debut at the September 1983 Frankfurt Motor Show. Visually indebted to the outgoing 911 SC, the newcomer wore a revised front valance complete with auxiliary driving lamps and a subtle 'Carrera' script on its engine lid. Available in coupe, targa and cabriolet guises, it remained faithful to established 911 practice by employing all-round independent torsion-bar suspension, four-wheel disc brakes and rack and pinion steering. Estimated to be 80% new, the model's 3164cc (hence '3.2') flat-six engine was credited with developing some 231bhp and 209lbft of torque. Allied to five-speed transmission, it proved both rev-happy and flexible. Reputedly capable of 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds and 153mph, the Carrera 3.2 was progressively developed over the course of its six-year production run.
Finished in Guards Red with black leather upholstery, this particular example is described by the vendor as being in "very good" condition with regard to its engine, five-speed manual gearbox, electrical equipment, interior trim, chassis, bodywork, paintwork and wheels / tyres. Reputedly a "UK supplied targa with full service history (main dealer and marque specialist)", 'HOI 242' is further understood to have had "one owner from 1992 to 2006" and to have covered just 69,000 miles from new. Reportedly "a really lovely original car that has clearly been cherished and used sparingly", the 911 is also stated to "drive superbly". Said to have been last serviced a few hundred miles ago by Porsche Hatfield at a cost of some £2,600 (October 2007), this inviting sportscar is offered for sale with "a large history file (including recent invoices and MOTs etc), original book pack / service book, two sets of keys", MOT certificate valid until October 2008 and road tax valid until September 2008.
