Lot details Registration No: CJI 2211 Chassis No: SCBZSOTO2HCH21594 Mot Expiry: May 2005
After a successful run, the T Series Bentley and Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow sister model were replaced by a new brace of cars with bodies designed by Austrian Fritz Feller. The new bodyshells were a little longer, wider and lower than the earlier models, and gave Bentley and R-R clients 30 per cent more glass area. Initially, the Bentley was named after the Mulsanne straight at Le Mans, where, prewar, the Bentley Boys had done so much to put W O Bentley's marque on the map. A turbocharged Mulsanne came out in 1982 and a further improved Turbo R in 1985.
On offer here is Turbo R, a righthand drive saloon built at Crewe in 1987, which is finished in blue with beige trim. The 4-door bodyshell and paintwork are said to be in good condition, the interior reasonable. Both the turbocharged 6750cc V8 motor and the automatic transmission are reportedly in good order as is the electrical equipment.
We understand from the vendor that the car is likely to have a fresh MOT by sale day and interested bidders are advised during viewing to check out the certificate in our auctions vehicle documents office at Buxton. On file, too, will be previous MOTs and full service history. The cherished registration CJI 2211 stays on the Toad alarm system protected car, while the 104,000 odometer reading when entered is believed to be the genuine total mileage for the luxury high performer from new.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
