Introduced at the 1988 Cologne Motor Show, the YB7 utilises the 400cc Yamaha FZ engine. It was designed exclusively for the Japanese market where the 400ccc class was particularly popular due to favourable licensing and tax regulations. In all 321 examples built, 124 in the tricolour finish, 161 in the red white and gold livery as offered here, 16 in gold and blue and 20 with unfinished fairings. The frame followed contemporary Bimota practice with two aluminium beams of rectangular section and was equipped with Marzocchi forks and an Ohlin's rear unit. Braking was provided by a pair of 280mm Brembo discs and callipers at the front and a 230mm item at the rear.
First registered in this country during 2002, the machine offered is number 43 of the 321 built. It is described by the vendor as being in excellent condition in all respects, currently residing in the vendor's living room. It is offered with the original warranty book, handbook, special tools, and display stand. Currently on SORN it is provided with a V5 registration document.
