Lot details Registration No: F161JWD Chassis No: SAJJNAEW3BB157498 Mot Expiry: April 2005
The E-Type replacing XJS appeared in Jaguar dealer showrooms from 1975. Sharing much of its running gear with the XJ6 and XJ12 saloons, albeit with shortened wheelbase and 5.3-litre twelve-cylinder only underbonnet, the Malcolm Sayer styled model was much more of a grand tourer with a decent-sized boot than a sportscar.
This XJS, a righthand drive 5.3 model with factory-fit power sunroof and automatic transmission, first left the Jaguar Cars works in Browns Lane, Coventry, in 1989, since when a believed by the entrant to be a genuine total 58,400 mileage had been recorded when entered for this auction.
Although we understand that the fixed head bodywork, presented in British Racing Green, could do with some light and sympathetic attention, the beige leather interior is claimed to be good and both 5343cc twelve motor and transmission are reportedly in good order. The official service booklet has been fully stamped and the documents file contains recent invoices as well as all former MOTs, the latest and current certificate being valid until next April.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
