Lot details Registration No: FLJ 87 Frame No: 1059 Engine No: SH3181 cc: 98 MOT Expiry Date: None
Authenticated by a 1947 cover note, this Raynal Auto, a 1939-dated and 8221 miles auto cycle, was owned by an old gentleman. It was acquired by the vendor directly from his son, who said that his father had used it a great deal in retirement - so much so, in fact, that he had to remove the bike's lights to keep him at night. The 98cc single-cylinder machine has not been on the road since 1953 (there are old tax discs in the holder).
Following restoration in 1984, however, current condition of paint and brightwork is claimed to be reasonable with frame, cycle parts, suspension and transmission all reportedly in good order. The electrics are said to work.
Also included are an unused Villiers Junior De Luxe 98cc engine (number XX449078 - minus carb, ignition points and HT lead), spare rear brake backplate with shoes and springs, a copy of B G Chadwick's 1947 `Modern Auto-Cycles', a Maintenance handbook and spares list for the Villiers Junior De Luxe motor, an Albion Gears spares list for Midget gearboxes (1931 onwards) and hints and spares for Francis-Barnett 17 and 18 models.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
