Postwar, Sir John Black of Standard acquired the rights to the Triumph name and built a new range of cars at his Canley works. In turn, the marque was taken over by British Leyland with the last model, the Acclaim, built in 1984..
Finished in Damson Red with tan interior, this 1975-built Triumph Toledo has only had one deceased lady owner from new since when an amazingly low 721 miles has been recorded. Indeed, this extraordinarily low mileage, claimed by the vendor to be the genuine total from new, is authenticated by full service history. This four-door saloon with 1296cc four-cylinder engine and four-speed manual transmission is also said to be totally original throughout with service booklet and unused tool kit both intact.
This unique motor car has been stored since 1976 and was discovered only when the late owner's property was being cleared prior to being auctioned. Since 1988, we are told, LAJ 680P has been on show at a Main Dealer showroom in North Yorkshire. This Triumph therefore represents a unique buying opportunity.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
