Lot details Registration No: SAG 255 Chassis No: AN544500 Mot Expiry: April 2006
This Austin-Healey Sprite MkI was first registered in Scotland in May 1961 and, as his first car with 45,000 miles displayed, was purchased by the vendor in 1966 and only used as a second car from 1968 onwards. Dry stored from 1974, a full restoration commenced in 1985 with as many original equipment parts as possible retained, the work being completed in May 1991. Following the rebuild, an MOT recorded 88,818 miles, since when it has only been driven during mid-summer. Over the following thirteen years and after only another 580 miles, the total mileage when entered had risen to a believed genuine 89,228.
Only Heritage approved replacement panels have been employed and the shell professionally repainted in Old English White two-pack. The documents file details a most comprehensive brakes, suspension and electrics overhaul and new loom. The 948cc engine has been treated to gas-flowed head with larger inlet valves (as on later 1100cc Sprites), hardened exhaust valve seats by Minisport for unleaded fuel and uprated oil pump. Fitted, too, are four-point harnesses, Mota-Lita wood-rim and new Moss hood. The latest MOT is valid until October, the tax-free disc until March of next year.
PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle now has an MOT until April 2006.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
