Lot details Registration No: Q494MNO Chassis No: 102905895 Mot Expiry: Nov 20005
According to the entrant, employing a 4.2-litre Jaguar-powered Daimler Sovereign as a donor vehicle, his Kougar was built to a very high standard between 1990 and 1991 by a professional motor engineer who also restores vintage motorcycles. On completion, he says, car and driver joined a Kougar Owners Club trip to Le Mans, whilst later a very good time was achieved in timed trials down the prom at Brighton.
Although slight marks to the offside rear mudguard are declared by the owner, overall condition of the well engineered chassis, open bodywork in BRG and grey leather trimmed interior with wood-rim steering wheel are rated by the owner as being good, whilst 4235cc 6-cylinder engine and four-speed manual transmission as well as electrics are reportedly also in good order.
As entered today, the sportscar comes well equipped with full windscreen as well as sidescreens, although the entrant tells us that he usually likes to run with minimalist aero screens. Also included is a bracing strut to the roll-bar, currently not fitted, and an alternative and quieter exhaust system. The present MOT is valid until November, the tax disc until the end of March.
We would also agree with him that the Kougar's traditional racecar shape and flowing lines must have been inspired by the Frazer Nash Le Mans from the immediate postwar era. Well engineered and extremely stylish, Kougar-Jags are entirely practical to own and enjoy, the marque now fully deserving of its own cult status and enthusiastic following.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
