Lot details Registration No: TPJ 4M Chassis No: V811049RCA Mot Expiry: None
The Aston Martin V8 is of the most significant British engines. Designed by Tadek Marek, with four overhead camshafts and five-bearing crankshaft, the 5.4-litre motor was originally developed in 1967 for Lola to go racing.
Offered here is a right-hand drive V8 coupe which was hand-built at Aston Martin's Newport Pagnell works in 1973 and is being auctioned here today entirely without reserve. When purchased by the current keeper, the V8 fixed head was non-running, having been inactive for some twenty years.
During this ownership, however, both sills and floor have been replaced and new exhaust system fitted. The brakes and handbrake have been brought up to standard and fuel pump renewed. In addition, the two-door body has been stripped and repainted in the current Cumberland Grey. Indeed, says the entrant, a small fortune has been expended on this project, so much so, he says, that both money and time has now run out and the car is in the auction today.
Current condition of the chassis is described as sound, the bodywork beautiful and the paintwork as one might expect following a bare metal repaint. The interior with tan leather is said to be very nice and alloy wheels good. Although unused for so long, the 5340cc eight-cylinder engine should now run, we are told (though it will need going over) and the oil cooler, currently leaking, will need replacing. All the electrical equipment and the automatic transmission should operate satisfactorily.
The mileage reads 71,311 and, while there is no current MOT, clients should be aware that the highest bid made here today will buy the car!
PLEASE NOTE: The engine on this car is mis-firing.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
