Lot details Registration No: 366 XPB Chassis No: VT7-18365 Mot Expiry: May 2005
This Austin-Healey 3000 MK II sports - a UK home market, righthand drive model from new with the benefit of an overdrive enhanced transmission, chrome wires and triple carbs - first left the BMC factory in 1962, there being a copy of the original registration document in the documents file confirming first registration on 12 March 1962. Also on file are former MOT test pass certificates from 9 September 1977 to 11 May 2004 charting overall mileages from 27,284 in 1977 to 50,220 when last successfully tested. The 50,240 displayed on the odometer when entered for this sale is therefore believed by the vendor to be the genuine total mileage for this very British sportscar from new.
The vendor tells us that a Mr D Cooper, a professional restorer, carefully sourced the car for his own use, seeking a really sound and original example, before purchasing this one from only the third owner with 47,046 miles on the clock. The vehicle then received a total nut and bolt rebuild between August 1989 and May 1990.
The chassis rails are said to be still as new, with the bodywork in excellent shape, the Colorado Red paintwork also excellent, the leather interior in beige with red piping as new, the 2912cc six, four-speed manual gearbox and electrical equipment reportedly all in excellent order too. As already mentioned, the current MOT will be valid until May of next year.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
