Porsche's GT3 takes its name from the FIA racing class in which it was designed to compete. The original 996 version went on sale to the public in May 1999 and was a rear-wheel drive model based around the 996 Carrera 4 body. Just 40 examples were available new to UK buyers with the required £76,500 to spend. With 360bhp on tap from its 3.6-litre flat-six engine, the newcomer was capable of sprinting to 60mph in just 4.5 seconds and on to 190mph. The transmission was a six-speed manual unit, while suitably sizeable cross-drilled discs and four-pot calipers were provided to haul the Porsche from the sustained high speeds of which it was capable.
Finished in Red with Black half-leather upholstery, this smart-looking right-hand drive 996 GT3 dates from 1999. According to the vendor, only 14 of the RHD examples featured the optional `Club Sport' pack. The considerable specification of `H10 GOB' includes: lightened flywheel, roll cage, Recaro seats, full-harness seatbelts, electric cut-out, tracker and a fire extinguisher. The vendor regards his Porsche's paintwork, interior trim, engine and six-speed manual transmission as "excellent" and the be-winged bodywork as "very good". The car's indicated but unwarranted mileage is 31,000. All good 911s are desirable, but these original GT3s are more than most.
PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle has an MOT until October 2013.
