Mot Expiry: July 2008

At the top of many a wish list, the Type 35 was arguably the most significant car Bugatti ever made. A bewitching blend of artistry and engineering that has entranced generations of enthusiasts since its 1924 French GP debut, the model has also inspired various imitations including those manufactured by Teal (Thistledown Engineering Automotive Limited) from the mid-1980s onwards. More of a homage than an exacting replica, the Teal 'Type 35' was available in kit or factory-built guises. Clothing mass-produced running gear beneath its convincing boat-tailed silhouette it gave customers a chance to turn their fantasies into (partial) reality.

Finished in blue with blue upholstery, this particular example is described by the vendor as being in "good" condition with regard to its engine, gearbox, electrical equipment, chassis, bodywork, paintwork and wheels / tyres. Reportedly "constructed by Robert Bicknell over several years and finished in 1988", 'Q510 GVC' is powered by a reconditioned Ford 1600cc four-cylinder engine allied to Ford four-speed manual transmission. Said to have been "based around a standard Teal kit and chassis", the car's external appearance is highlighted by a side-mounted spare wheel, external handbrake, chrome exhaust tailpiece, leather bonnet straps, aero screens and 'minilite' alloys with Bugatti-style wheel trims. While its two-seater interior plays host to a well stocked aluminium dashboard (speedometer, rev-counter, oil pressure gauge, water temperature gauge, volt meter, fuel gauge, clock etc), dark blue Wilton carpets and a "professionally-crafted bench seating with lockable rear storage compartment in the tail". Further boasting a fan assisted heater, Ford differential, adjustable shock absorbers and front-wheel disc brakes, this appealing Teal is offered for sale with MOT certificate valid until July 2008.
