- Major overhaul of its Meadows 4EB engine in 2013
Further Info:
This delightful boat-tailed two-seater complete with dickey is apparently the only remaining example of seven Avon-bodied Tourers made. It was restored in the early 1950s and 1983, as reported in a 1984 edition of the Automobile magazine. `YU 5820' is well-known in Lea-Francis circles and has been in its current ownership since 2009. The vendor informs us it is in `very good order' and has `an extensive documented history, including a buff log book and numerous invoices'. The K Type's 4EB Meadows powerplant was treated to a major overhaul as recently as 2013, work which included: a rebore; new pistons; white metalling of the big ends; crack testing and balancing of the crankshaft and connecting rods; new valves and valve springs; relining of the clutch; a new exhaust system; the overhauling of the magneto; and a full rewire. The neat Black hood and side screens are said to be `in excellent condition'.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
