Lot details Registration No: DS 8781 Chassis No: M78495 Mot Expiry: May 2006
Shortly after purchasing Dodge Brothers Inc for $175,000,000 on July 30th 1928, Walter P Chrysler ordered the four-cylinder models on which his new acquisition had made its reputation dropped in favour of an exclusively six-cylinder line-up. Very much part of the new range, the Victory was introduced later that same year. Built around a 112-inch wheelbase, its strong ladder frame chassis was equipped with leaf-sprung suspension and four-wheel drum brakes. Powered by a 208ci flat-head engine mated to a three-speed manual gearbox, it was reputedly capable of some 65mph. Available with a range of bodystyles all of which reflected traditional Dodge styling cues, it was exported worldwide.
Finished in cream over black with grey velour upholstery, this particular right-hand drive example is described by the vendor as being in fair (engine, electrical equipment) to good (chassis, bodywork, paintwork, gearbox, interior trim, wheels / tyres) overall condition. Formerly registered in New Zealand, this practical four-door Vintage saloon was apparently imported to the UK around 1990. Said to "drive very quietly" and to "steer true and straight" thanks to its recently replaced track rods / ends, it has reportedly proved a "very popular wedding car". A rare sight in this country, it is offered for sale with MOT current until May 4th 2006 and historic class (free) road tax until March 2006.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
