Lot details Registration No: N703OGC Chassis No: WP0ZZZ9ZZSS800127 Mot Expiry: Dec 2012
Styled by American Tony Lapine, Porsche's front-engined, water-cooled, V8-powered 2+2 928 was launched at the 1977 Geneva Salon. Originally intended as a replacement for the ubiquitous 911, it was completely different in both configuration and character, yet received a rapturous reception from the press, who duly awarded it the 1978 Car of The Year Award. Despite being signed off during one major fuel crisis and launched during the next, it remained in production until 1995, by when some 61,000 examples had been made.
The four-owner 928 offered is a very rare manual gearbox GTS model from 1995. It sports Black paintwork complemented by Tan leather upholstery. The vendor informs us that the cam belt and water pump were replaced in February last year, and the Porsche has just benefited from a major overhaul of the brake ABS sensors and refurbished alloy wheels. He now regards the bodywork, paintwork, interior trim, engine and gearbox as all being in "very good" order and says 'N703 OGC' "runs and drives great and pulls liked a train". It is being sold complete with owner's books, service history (16 stamps), invoices from 2002, and MOTs dating back to 2000, plus one valid into December this year. The Porsche's odometer currently shows an unwarranted 96,075 miles.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
