Lot details Registration No: 569 TTT Chassis No: 26475 Mot Expiry: July 2005
During previous ownership of D Meynell from Burton-on-Trent, this 1961 Coventry-built and righthand drive Alvis TD21 Series 1 with Park Ward drophead coupe was totally rebuilt to correct specification. A photo-record of this 1986-88 renovation is included in the history file.
The current registration was added following acquisition by the vendor from marque specialists Red Triangle in 1989, since when the car has become a well known regular at Alvis Owners Club events, winning the Herman Graber Trophy at the 1990 International Alvis Day for the best restoration of a Graber-style 3-litre model. In 1993, 569 TTT was AOC `Car of the Year' from concours and driving test scores, and also featured on the cover and in the text of David Culshaw's 2003 published "Alvis Three Litre".
The drophead has been continuously MOTd during the 18,000 miles of current ownership with maintenance carried out to a high standard. Sensible modifications include cylinder head conversion of hardened valve seats and new exhaust valves to better accommodate unleaded petrol, manually switched auxiliary electric cooling fan and fuel lines re-routed away from exhaust in engine bay.
Bodywork condition is described as good with no filler, Peony Red paintwork very good with few blemishes, cream leather interior excellent, 2993cc six in good order holding 50psi oil pressure and four-speed manual gearbox reportedly good with crisp selection. The 114,129 mileage displayed when entered is believed by the owner to be the genuine total.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
