Lot details Registration No: 480 MYB Chassis No: MAS3/886573 Mot Expiry: None
The first Morris Minors, MMs, were produced from 1948 to 1953. The monocoque bodies were equipped with independent torsion bar front suspension and a live axle at the rear. Power came from a 918cc straight-four, sidevalve engine producing 27.5bhp. This was replaced by the A-Series 803cc OHV unit in 1952. The more major update of 1956 saw that engine increased in capacity to 948cc (hence the model's name change to Minor 1000), the rear window enlarged and the split-screen front one replaced with a single pane.
This very pretty 'home market' Minor 1000 hails from 1961 and has Old English White paintwork complemented by a Red interior. We understand it has had just six keepers from new, the most recent of which acquired '480 MYB' three years ago. It has reportedly benefited from a full respray and is both Waxoyled and undersealed. The polarity has been changed to negative earth, new wheels cylinders, brake shoes and handbrake cables fitted and a new battery installed. The Minor is said to have "solid inner wings, boot etc", a "fully detailed" underbonnet area, "good" engine and gearbox and "no play in the suspension or steering". It comes complete with plaques for all the many shows it has attended, original Winthronics radio and an MOT into September.
PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle does not have an MOT.
PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle will require attention to the brakes prior to driving.
