This particular machine was completed on the 15th September 1937 and was one of the last three rigid framed racing "Inter" built by the factory to "Full Manx Spec" - all three bikes were shipped to F&W Hermann, the Norton dealer in Stuttgart. It is believed that the bike was bought and raced in 1938 by Paul Schaible from Weilim Dorf south of Stuttgart, and after hostilities died down, resumed his racing activities on the bike in 1946.
The history of the bike then becomes quite vague, however it was bought by Norman Webb from New Malden in the mid fifties (a serious bike collector in his own right) who acquired it due to it's good condition and originality. The bike then passed to Franz Hubner from Munich in 1976, at which time the bike returned to Germany and was exhibited on parade at Hockenheim and elsewhere.
The machine was then passed on in 1990 when it was raced in Germany and Poland. In 1995 the owner's van was stolen in Poland with the bike inside! The bike then re-surfaced in a motorcycle dealers in Berlin in pieces. The bike was then bought by it's current owner, who commissioned a complete rebuild by Brian Lumley, who restored it to it's current condition in 2002. The rebuild is well documented and is very extensive.
The original Norton Motors chassis plate and a number of spares including a megaphone exhaust will be supplied with the bike. In 2003 the bike was paraded at Cadwell Park by Brian Lumley, where it received "Bike of the meeting" award. This bike now awaits a new owner and is ready to parade.
PLEASE NOTE: A single motorcycle trailer is included with this machine.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
