Lot details Registration No: BGY 908 Chassis No: GAE24 Mot Expiry: Exempt
Initially retained by Rolls-Royce's Inspection Department, chassis GAE24 was sold to its first private keeper Mrs Foster of Connaught Square, London W2 in April 1937. Bodied by Thrupp & Maberly, subsequent owners of the six-light limousine are known to have included: Messrs Rootes Ltd, James Cottam, E. Hurton & Son, Cecil Howett, W.M. Jackson, Martin Hawkins, Ivan Grimwade, I. Salmon and former RREC regional chairman Michael Broadbent. Reportedly repainted and retrimmed in 2004, `BGY 908' was treated to some £16,000 worth of engine work by marque specialist Colbrook during 2005-6 (re-ground crankshaft, repaired / rebored block, reprofiled camshaft, new white metal bearings / pistons / timing gears etc). Further benefiting from a replacement clutch, re-veneered woodwork, refurbished radiator, brake overhaul, stainless steel exhaust, renewed tyres and the adoption of overdrive over the last few years, this highly presentable 20/25 has covered some 13,000 miles since its original engine was rejuvenated.
