Lot details Registration No: GSJ 749 Chassis No: DLF/201240 Mot Expiry: June 2005
When annual production rose to 54,000 cars in 1925, Morris Motors of Cowley had a 41 per cent market share and were the British motor industry's number one car maker.
Offered here is a 1955-manufactured Morris Oxford Series 2 Traveller. The current owner, a major private collector, has owned this postwar and righthand drive British classic since 2000, since when - apart from appearances at the last three Goodwood Revival meetings - GSJ 749 has always been dry-stored.
The current condition of the station wagon bodywork is said to be good above and below, with both the beige paintwork and the red leather interior also good. The 1.5-litre 4-cylinder motor is reportedly in good order and the water pump has been renewed, while the 4-speed manual gearbox is also claimed to be in good order. The 44,101 miles displayed when entered for this sale is possibly the genuine total mileage from new, says the vendor, who claims that his estate is not only still very original, but also drives superbly.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
