Lot details Registration No: WSU 299 Chassis No: SAJJCALP3CC410696 Mot Expiry: July 2006
Visually updated by Pininfarina with a new 'glasshouse' and sharper, more a la mode sheetmetal, the Series III Jaguar XJ6 was launched in March 1979. Retaining its predecessor's all round independent coil sprung suspension, disc brakes and power assisted rack and pinion steering, it was credited with a class leading ride / handling balance. Powered by a choice of 3.4 litre or 4.2 litre dohc straight-six engines, the vast majority were specified with GM's smooth three-speed automatic gearbox. Benefiting from the adoption of fuel-injection, the larger capacity powerplant delivered suitably authoritative performance.
Finished in silver with black leather upholstery, this comparatively late example is described by the vendor as being in good (wheels / tyres) to excellent (engine, automatic transmission, electrical equipment, interior trim, chassis, paintwork, bodywork) overall condition. Reportedly "family owned since 1992" but with its present keeper "from July 1994", it is said to have been "fastidiously maintained to a very high standard and used only for occasional pleasure motoring during the summer months then dry stored during winter". Believed but not warranted to have covered 97,350 miles from new, its 'WSU 299' registration number has apparently been "valued at £590". Boasting cruise control, electric seats, air conditioning and alloy wheels etc, this "superb driving" Jaguar is offered for sale with "original tool kits / handbooks", MOT certificate valid until 22nd July 2006 and road tax until April 2006.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
