During 1966 it was becoming increasingly apparent that the AMC group were in financial difficulties, Colin Seeley had approached the company with an offer to buy the manufacturing rights for the 7R, G50 and Manx in order to secure a supply of engines and components for his increasingly popular G50 and 7R powered machines, which was finally accepted in October 1966.
With Colin Seeley Racing Developments Ltd. established to develop and manufacture the machines the company entered a boom period with healthy sales and considerable success on the track.
Dave Croxford won the British championship in 1968 and 1969, Tommy Robb took fourth place in the 1970 World Championships and the North West 200 was won by John Cooper and John Blanchard in 1968 and 1969 respectively.
The machine offered was purchased from the works on the 13th November 1971 by Roger Winterburn for £750. A copy of the hire purchase agreement accompanies the motorcycle. Bearing the frame number MK4 CS EXP 152, the"works" machine had been used by the works supported rider Dave Croxford together with a 636cc machine that was subsequently sold to Ken Kray.
It is offered in very good condition with the original sales invoice, copies of correspondence from Roger Winterburn to the previous owner and a copy of an article referring to the motorcycle.
