This 1962-built Jaguar, a Mk2 3.4, was despatched by the Browns Lane works to distributors Henlys for Cricklewood dealers Broadway Autos, who sold it 22 February 1962 to J P Isaacs of London W3. The righthand drive manual saloon belonged to Philip Walker in Huddersfield from at least 1978 until 1988 when sold to Graham Taylor of London SE19. The present owner acquired 112 DXF from Huddersfield collector vehicle specialists Grundy Mack in 1995.
Comprehensive 1995/6 refurbishment included renewing splined hubs, brake discs and servo, shock absorbers, stainless steel exhaust, wire wheels and tyres. The car was professionally resprayed in BRG cellulose, Webasto sunroof recovered, door seals, Furflex trim and headlining renewed, and interior woodwork professionally polished. The 3.4-litre XK six was overhauled in 2000 with valves and springs renewed, valve seats recut, new crankshaft damper and factory refurbished carbs fitted and clutch replaced. Conversion from dynamo to alternator was carried out November 2003. Current condition of mechanical and electrical equipment is claimed to be very good, whilst although some chrome is pitted, bodywork and paintwork is said to be in good order with red interior good.
Since restoration, this classic Jag has taken part in the JEC Entente Cordiale Tour of France, a circular tour of Ireland including the route of the historic Gordon Bennett road races, the JEC Isle of Man Tour and English coast-to-coast runs. The vendor believes the 34,931 mileage displayed to be the genuine total.
