Lot details Registration No: R89 NPN Chassis No: SCALA61E0XCH0177 Mot Expiry: Sept 2006
Introduced in March 1998 at the Geneva Show, the Silver Seraph has gone down in history as the last Crewe-built Rolls-Royce. Dignified yet progressive, its svelte profile was the work of in-house stylist Graham Hull. An impressive 65% stiffer than that of the outgoing Spirit, its steel monocoque was fabricated using some 6,500 laser-guided spot welds. Equipped with all-round double-wishbone independent suspension, a 'digital-adaptive-hydraulic-damping-system' (complete with automatic ride height control) and ABS-modulated vented disc brakes it proved a thoroughly enjoyable drive. Developing some 322bhp and 361lbft of torque, its BMW sourced 5,379cc SOHC V12 was mated to five-speed ZF automatic transmission. Tempered by Automatic Stability Control (ASC) electronics, the Seraph was still capable of zapping from 0-60mph in 6.9 seconds before topping out at a governed 140mph. Crafted from the finest leather hides, wood veneers and deep-pile carpets available, its cabin was wonderfully cosseting. Boasting electrically adjusted / heated seats throughout and a unique Alpine CD stereo system (with dash mounted changer), the 'base' model cost a staggering £155,175. Sadly, a mere 1,570 Seraphs were made before production ceased in 2002.
Finished in Sherwood Green Metallic with Magnolia Hide piped in Spruce, this particular example is described by the vendor as "an absolutely stunning motor car". Said to come with "Full Service History", it has apparently covered 74,000 miles from new. Benefiting from whitewall tyres, a factory installed telephone, picnic tables and MOT certificate valid until June 2006, this paragon of luxury motoring is offered for sale at less than a sixth of the New Phantom's price tag!
PLEASE NOTE: This car now has an MOT until September 2006 and actually cost £160,000 from new. The registration number showing on the vehicle is not for sale with the car, the new plates are located in the documents office for the registration R89 NPN.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
