One of just two F2 Single-Seaters built by Gerald G Smith, the car offered here was ordered new in 1957 by Jack Perkins, who christened it the Mason Master Special - a nod to his acclaimed invention, the Mason Master Drill. Perkins competed with it all over the Midlands throughout the 1960s and 1970s, and nowhere more than here at Chateau Impney in 1959/1960. It was also driven in period by Alan Stacey, whose best result was a 2nd place at Brands Hatch against Coopers and Lotus 12s. The vendor is only its second owner and, following a complete rebuild, has run it at Silverstone, Donington, Mallory Park, Prescott, Goodwood, Pembrey and Shelsley. As forward thinking as the Lotus 12, it features a Coventry Climax FWB engine, rear-mounted sequential gearbox, Alfin brake drums all-round (inboard at the rear) and all-alloy body. It comes with VSCC and FIA eligibility papers, period letters and photos etc.
PLEASE NOTE: Alan Stacey drove the sister car to this vehicle in period.
PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle is accompanied by old FIA papers.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
