A World Rally Championship homologation special, Mitsubishi's legendary 4WD Lancer Evolution ('Evo') has been through ten generations since its 1992 debut. Introduced in 2001, the Evo VII was based on the Lancia Cedia platform and notable for its adoption of an active centre differential that yielded even greater traction and roadholding. Powered by a 2-litre turbocharged engine, the newcomer could be had in manual GSR or automatic GT-A guises. Seen as the 'Gentleman's Express' version and only produced during 2002, the latter boasted bespoke diamond-cut 17-inch alloys, clear rear light lenses, all-in-one headlights, chromed interior door handles/instrument bezels, additional sound deadening and the option of velour or leather upholstery etc. Detuned to 260bhp, the GT-A was still a viciously quick car.
Finished in Pearlescent White with Grey leather upholstery, this particular example is described by the vendor as being in "very good" condition with regard to its engine, five-speed 'fuzzy logic' Tiptronic transmission, electrical equipment, interior trim, bodywork and paintwork. Understood to have covered just 37,000 miles to date, the GT-A has reportedly been treated to the following upgrades: uprated induction kit, turbo and dump valve, revised ECU chip, big-bore stainless steel exhaust and manifold, enhanced braking system, 18-inch alloy wheels and Kenwood stereo. Rare yet practical, this high-performance Mitsubishi is said to be "outstanding to drive".
