Well known cycle manufacturer, Raleigh, had first entered the motorcycle market at the end of the nineteenth century retiring from it in 1906 and returning again in 1919.During the golden era of motorcycling the company benefited from the talents of D. R. O'Donavan who was responsible for the design of some very rapid over head valve engines, however, it was in the trials field that the company excelled, with riders of the calibre of Marjorie Cottle and Hugh Gibson regularly demonstrating the quality and durability of the Nottingham product.
This machine, offered in very good original condition was owned for thirty-one years by a Mr Chater of Worcester. It is equipped with a full gas lighting set and was last taxed and tested in 1985, since when it has been sympathetically stored in a private collection. A buff logbook as well as a V5 document accompanies this delightful motorcycle.
