Lot details
Registration No: T.B.A.
Chassis No: SCBZP23C8WCH66270
Mot Expiry: June 2010

Introduced for the 1995 model year, the "New" Bentley Turbo R (like its "New" Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn and "New" Rolls-Royce Silver Spur stablemates) was little changed in outward appearance. Still based around the familiar four-door monocoque bodyshell equipped with all round independent suspension (self-levelling at the rear), ventilated ABS disc brakes and power assisted steering, its turbocharged 6750cc V8 engine employed a more sophisticated Zytek EMS3 management system. Quoted as developing some 385bhp and 553lbft of torque, this fearsome unit was tamed somewhat with the adoption of ETAS (Electronic Traction Assistance System) in 1996. Reputedly capable of a towering 155mph thanks to advances in brake and tyre technology, the "New" Turbo R retained its immediate predecessor's standard fit four-speed automatic transmission (itself upgraded from three speeds in 1992). Available from autumn 1997 onwards, the 1998-model year Turbo RT model borrowed various mechanical features from its Continental T sibling and could thus boast 400 bhp and a maximum torque of 590 lb/ft (800 Nm). Visually distinguished by a mesh grille and mesh inserts to its colour-coded bumpers, the turbocharged Bentley could apparently accelerate from 0-60mph in 6 seconds. Priced at a whisker under £150,000, just 50 Turbo RTs are thought to have been made.

H&H are indebted to the vendor for the following description: "This 1997 Bentley Turbo RT is currently undergoing a cherished number plate transfer but a new registration number will be supplied shortly. The car boasts the usual Bentley refinements including power steering, electric seats, electric windows (x4), full leather interior, automatic four-speed gearbox, remote locking (two keys), radio / cassette with CD multi-changer, RT alloy wheels, RT grille, colour-coded bumpers and mesh bumper / grille inserts. The colour of the car is Wildberry with a cream leather interior and wood finished dash. There is a Bentley service history and the car has had a recent engine top-end overhaul costing over £2,500 (receipt for work on file). The Turbo RT has had three former keepers and drives very well. The interior is very smart with all the electrics currently working. In my opinion the only minor flaw is the presence of some stone chips to the front".

PLEASE NOTE: The registration number currently displayed on this vehicle is not included in the sale.
