Lot details Registration No: NVS 110 Chassis No: 463035234 Mot Expiry: None
Deriving its name from a fabulous Motorama show car that had appeared some eight years earlier, the LeSabre was introduced in 1959. A 'full-size' Buick, its platform chassis featured all round coil-sprung suspension, power assisted steering and aluminium finned brake drums. Powered by a 'nailhead' 364ci (5964cc) V8 OHV engine that developed anything from 210bhp / 340lbft (8.5:1 compression) to 300bhp / 405lbft (10.25:1 compression), the LeSabre boasted automatic transmission as standard. Restyled for the 1960 model year, it gained horizontal headlamps, sleeker 'bat wing' fins, new 'Tri-Shield' badging and three 'portholes' per front wing. While, internally the adoption of an adjustable 'mirror image' strip speedometer gave a more modern look. Produced under the watchful eye of quality-committed general manager Edward D. Rollert, the LeSabre would become one of Buick's longest running model lines.
Finished in blue over white with blue / white vinyl upholstery, this particular left-hand drive example is variously described by the vendor as being in "good" (wheels / tyres) "very good" (interior trim, paintwork, bodywork) or "excellent" (5964cc engine, three-speed automatic transmission, electrical equipment, chassis) condition. Reportedly used as a wedding car in Cheshire prior to entering the current museum ownership during the 1980s, 'NVS 110' is understood to have been exercised fairly regularly since. Thought to be very original, it is believed to have covered just 44,478 miles from new. Riding on whitewall tyres and sporting wraparound front / rear windscreens, this LeSabre has style and power aplenty.
