Lot details Registration No: PSU 793 Chassis No: 22337 Mot Expiry: April 2005
Fortunately for what had become a loss-making enterprise, London West End motor trader and entrepreneur Charles Follett funded a rescue investment for Alvis in 1930 and, more importantly, advised the Coventry firm as to which types of motor car the motoring public of the day would buy. Thanks to Follett's money, the soundness of their basic designs, quality workmanship and motor sport success, Alvis happily prospered.
We understand from the vendor of this 1948 Alvis TA14 that the Mulliner-bodied 4-door was fully and professionally restored in 1990, since when it is claimed to have been well maintained and always garaged. A photographic record of this refurbishment work is supplied with the sports saloon.
Currently, the chassis is said to be in good condition, with bodywork and cream over burgundy paintwork very good and the burgundy interior excellent. Both 1892cc 4-cylinder engine and 4-speed manual gearbox are reportedly in good order as is the electrical equipment. The MOT was only renewed at the end of April and the tax-exempt disc will not need changing until December.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
