The post war motorscooter was developed to provide cheap transport for individuals in a Europe recovering from the effects of World War Two. As countries recovered and their populations became more prosperous individuals sought more than just transport, greater affluence broadened individuals horizons. Vespa, the trend setter in scooter design addressed this market with machines such as the high performance 150 GS, other manufacturers, notably the Germans and British developed large capacity machines, displacing up to 300cc capable of carrying two people and luggage for long distances at high averages.
The single cylinder, two-stroke Maicoletta was one such "superscooter". This example has benefited from a total restoration carried out by the owner between 2000 and 2002. It is described as being in excellent condition in all respects and is offered with copies of manuals and the owners handbook. The machines touring ability is reflected by the seven day clock fitted and the accompanying handlebar fairing with screen and chrome crashbars.
PLEASE NOTE: Although not fitted, the original engine with number 706540 as in the catalogue is included in the sale of the motorcycle, and a totally rebuilt replacment is currently fitted.
