BSA had introduced their rival to the Triumph Speed Twin, the A7, during September 1946, an unusual feature of the new machine being the gearbox which bolted to the back of the crankcases, suggesting unit construction. A sports variant was added for 1949 to counter the success of the Triumph Tiger 100. Called the Star Twin the new model featured a twin carburettor head and a raised compression ratio. The revised engine was fitted to the new plunger equipped frame and finished with a silver and chrome petrol tank and wheels.
This example was well restored approximately two years ago and has subsequently formed part of a small private collection attracting a great deal of attention whilst on display. It is offered with a Swansea V5c, a copy of the old V5 and an old logbook together with a workshop manual, sundry bills and five expired MOT certificates.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
