Introduced in 1975, Mercedes-Benz's W123 series cars perpetuated the marque's enviable reputation for engineering integrity. Well built with a sense of solidity missing from today's model range, the W123 cars featured all round independent coil sprung suspension, disc brakes and power steering. Devoid of exterior plastic trim and regarded by some as the last of the 'chrome era' Mercedes, W123s have begun to attract a cult following.
Finished in metallic green with tan and tex upholstery, this particular two-door coupe example is powered by a 2746cc six-cylinder engine mated to four-speed automatic transmission. Variously rated by the vendor as being in "good" (paintwork, wheels / tyres), "very good" (engine, gearbox, electrical equipment, chassis, bodywork) or "excellent" (interior trim) condition, it is said to have been in the current family ownership since 1993. Passed from nephew to aunt and back again during that time, it is reported to possess "full service history and all MOTs from 1985". Described by the seller as a "lovely car to drive" which retains "numerous bills covering all major works, especially between 1996 and 2000 (over £4,000)", it is believed to have covered 95,100 miles from new. Riding on steel wheels complete with colour-coded hubcaps, it is offered for sale with MOT certificate valid until May 13th 2006 and road tax until July 31st 2006.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
