By 1947 the illustrious Francis-Barnett company had been producing their well respected, wide range of lightweight two stroke singles dating back to 1920. At that date Gordon Francis and Arthur Barnett relinquished control of the old firm and F-B became part of the Great British Motorcycle Industry, in it's early days of formation, swallowed by AMC Ltd. The main model type designation during these years had been Falcon and Merlin and not much changed for many more years, both name types appearing in a confusing number of guises in road, trials and scrambles versions, normally with Villiers power and rigid or sprung frames.
This bike appears to have started life as a road going Falcon in 1955 and looks to have been very well converted to off road spec. at some time in it's history. It has the correct 10D Villiers engine for a scrambles version of the period, the swing arm trials type frame and a later heavyweight hydraulic fork assembly. Entered at no reserve and with the benefits of a DVLA V5 and old buff log book, this machine could be considered to be a good, usable representation of trials machinery of the fifties, perhaps ideal for pre-65 trials etc.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
