Lot details Registration No: OC 8149 Chassis No: E/RN/1078/16 Mot Expiry: None
First registered on February 28th 1934, chassis E/RN/1078/16 began life in Birmingham (or so its number plate would imply). Bodied as a four-door six-light Carlton Saloon, its 2249cc six-cylinder engine is allied to four-speed manual transmission with the benefit of synchromesh on 3rd and 4th gears. Treated to a bare-metal respray as part of an extensive restoration that is estimated to have cost its last registered keeper, D. Norbury Esq. of Whitefield, some £25,000, the Austin's striking Ivory over Black livery is complemented by Red leather upholstery and matching carpets. Deemed by the vendor to possess "a smooth, quiet engine, lovely gearchange and excellent underside", this smart Post Vintage saloon is offered for sale with copy handbook, sundry restoration photos and fresh MOT certificate.
PLEASE NOTE: This lot does not possess a valid MOT certificate. The vendor presented it for testing last week and tells us that it failed due a fuel pipe leak (since fixed) and brake light fault. The vendor drove the Austin to the sale from Stockport but notes that the clutch pedal has a very short travel.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
