Lot details Registration No: T.B.A. Chassis No: 10704322014735 Mot Expiry: None
The first SL, being an abbreviation of Sport Leicht, was largely engineered by celebrated Daimler-Benz boffin Rudi Uhlenhaut. This 350SL, a righthand drive roadster with factory hardtop, first left the Mercedes-Benz Stuttgart works in 1979. Acquired by the present owner 18 September 1996 when registered LBU 802V, the car completed an extensive tour of the Continental mainland before becoming a resident of Malta 11 April 1997.
In August of this year, we understand that the 350SL was driven back to the UK with the intention of re-registration with UK plates. Requiring some welding to the chassis however, the claimed to have been accident-free classic failed its MOT test and this is reflected in the fact that it is being auctioned here today entirely without reserve.
Although two-door open bodywork, cream paintwork and dark blue leather interior do require some attention, 3499cc eight-cylinder motor, automatic transmission and electrical equipment are reportedly all in excellent working order. Whilst supplied with the car is much service history as well as all pertinent paperwork.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
