This righthand drive example of Jaguar's increasingly rare and desirable 3.5-litre MK V drophead coupe was, according it its Heritage Trust certificate, manufactured on June 29th 1951 and delivered to the supplying dealer, Attwoods, on July 12th that year. The accompanying green logbook shows it was registered on August 29th 1951 and further history informs us that Richard Place & Co, chartered accountants from East Grinstead, sold the car to a Mr K W Holliday of the same town on February 8th 1960. He apparently ran it until 1975 and then stored it until 1991. In September of that year Mr Claude Levi, also of East Grinstead, acquired the car for a reported sum of £18,000. Some £22,000 of restoration was carried out in his care, not least a complete retrim. It then passed to a Mr J Linton in September 1997 for £40,000 when the recorded mileage was 39,920. It then passed to the previous keeper in January 2006 who used it in Jaguar Drivers Club events where it won various awards before being acquired by the vendor in April 2012.
Boasting a four-speed manual gearbox allied to a Harry Weslake tuned OHV 3485cc engine developing some 126bhp, this most charismatic of Jaguars is attractively finished in cream with smart red leather trim and is offered with Swansea V5 document, sundry tools and a selection of old MoTs.
